Drawing from a rich blend of sound, video, and concept, this Slovak musician, filmmaker, and multidisciplinary artist crafts a unique approach to creating art. His projects range from the traditional singer-songwriter style in Tante Elze to more experimental acts like Pain Palace and various Danube-related endeavors.
Tomas’s debut album dog-rose (Weltschmerzen) explores musical articulation and vocalization, with themes that gnaw at the surface of the world: people’s awkward everyday intimacies, the never-ending pursuit of self-knowledge, and the concept of God. Together, these elements question the reliability of memory and how it shapes our reality.
With a keen interest in using limited sound palettes, he creates what he calls “emotional music.” One of his most personal works, the EP Mechanical Heart Valve, is composed entirely of sound samples from his cousin’s artificial heart valve and was initially a thank-you gesture to a cardiologist. Whether through music, film, or concept, his work explores the intersection of nature, humanity, and the complex layers between them.
