Blurring the lines between tradition and innovation, Ukrainian pianist and vocalist Kateryna Ziabliuk reinvents folk music through free improvisation and experimental electronics. Under her artistic identity, Katrù, she transforms ancestral melodies into contemporary soundscapes, weaving together jazz, electroacoustic textures, and instant composition. Her music is a reflection of migration—navigating nostalgia, cultural preservation, and the fluidity of identity.
Educated across Europe and the U.S., Kateryna’s work extends beyond her solo project. She leads Hilarious Disasters, a group merging Slavic folk with metal and free improvisation, performs with the all-female Polish jazz ensemble O.N.E., and collaborates on folk-centric international projects presented at major European festivals.
For her, folk music is not just heritage—it is a living, breathing form of expression, constantly reshaped by movement, memory, and modernity.
