Dublin-based electro-noise band YARD from Ireland has been operating largely under the radar since as far back as 2018, crafting their sound and building up a healthy body of work. They bridge the gap between techno, industrial music, and noise rock. YARD’s music can only be described as an intense and immersive sensory experience. This gripping four-piece cluster is composed of Dan Malone (guitar), Ben O’Neill (vocals, synths, and guitar), Emmet White (vocals and bass synth), and George Ryan (beats and synth).
In their live shows, YARD lines up behind a bewildering array of technology. Visually, they are co-represented by their eerie mascot, ‘Bucketman’—an upturned bucket with the word “YARD” taped on in black capitals, situated on stage, and a mystifying, almost terrifying figure on the band’s TikTok. Their performance truly leaves one sweaty, energized, and strangely unnerved.
Off the back of supporting Shame, Scaler (f.k.a Scalping), Enola Gay, and Chalk in 2023, and with festival appearances at Latitude, All Together Now, Electric Picnic, and Ireland Music Week, as well as securing a slot at Eurosonic 2024, YARD is going from strength to strength. Drawing inspiration from SUUNS, Gilla Band, Death Grips, Nine Inch Nails, among others, YARD is creating an experience truly like no other. Therefore, come and see them at no other place than at SHARPE 2024.
