DASA is a Slovak singer and songwriter who has been slowly but surely gaining recognition in the London Underground scene. She moved to London in 2016 to study music at Goldsmiths University and has since been involved in various music projects in both UK and SK. She has performed at cult venues such as the Windmill or the Sebright Arms, sharing bills with artists like Katy J Pearson, piglet, or Enjoyable Listens.
In 2019, this artist hailing from the Slovak town of Poprad decided to embark on her own venture as a musician and now has a handful of original materials to share with the world. This includes her debut EP ‘Come Through,’ which thematically revolves around relationships and the impacts of a life spent jumping between countries, longing for a stable home, and questioning one’s sense of identity. The EP is the outcome of two years of experimentation in the studio with musicians such as Seth Evans (of black midi), cellist Mat Roberts, and producer and engineer Nathan Ridley. Also, her contribution to the Sad Machine compilation with the song ‘Forget it (if u can)’ and the synth-driven Slovak cover ‘Až Príde Večer.’ Consequently, DASA has gained support from the popular Slovak radio station ‘Radio FM’ and was nominated as ‘Best New Artist’ by the Radiohead Awards.
Her most recent release is a single titled “wife now,” which invites listeners to experience a dream pop world where the consequences of a broken relationship and the concept of motherhood are being observed. DASA is undoubtedly an emerging artist to watch and, more importantly, to listen to. Catch her live at SHARPE 2024.
