Wales based queer duo that was formed by Zhenia Purpurovsky (from Kyiv) and Paul Chilton (UK). The songwriters, producers, composers, and multi- instrumentalists started the band in Ukraine in 2008. tAngerinecAt duo crafts a spellbinding sonic world using electronic production, hurdy-gurdy, voice, whistles and an array of other sounds. Their influences range from artists like Son Lux, Gesaffelstein, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds to the ethnic music of the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains and the films of Sergey Parajanov. The new album Glass tells Zhenia’s personal story as a multi-ethnic queer refugee and complex trauma survivor from a working-class background. It also hit the top of the charts on Bandcamp and was voted one of Louder Than War’s top 100 albums of 2022. The duo has performed hundreds of successful headline shows in UK and Ukraine and will kick off their extensive premiere GLASS-European-Tour 2023 at SHARPE, Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Tallinn Music Week and Focus Wales.
