Meet মm. (read: mwo, like the bangla alphabet), a DJ, curator, and community organizer bridging Dhaka & Vienna. Their sets, rooted in global South sounds, fuse genres like Bollywood, batida, dancehall, baile funk, and more, forming what is termed “south-on-south” music. Their work challenges Euro-American club norms, centering queerness and reclaiming nightlife. As an academic, their research explores gender/sexuality, art, and politics, while exploring potentials of decolonial praxis.
Co-founding Karkhana Collective in Dhaka, they promote critical music and dancefloor organizing. The Ghurni Listening Sessions aim for accessible, safer dancefloors, addressing class, gender, and social aspects in Dhaka. As a Spice Mixers founding member in Vienna, মm. fosters BIPOC spaces, celebrating diverse diaspora experiences. Their holistic approach transcends borders, fostering global connections in the vibrant tapestry of sound and culture.
Join মm. on a journey that transcends genres, redefines club culture, and champions inclusivity, making waves from Dhaka to Vienna and all the world in between.
