The fifth annual SHARPE music festival & conference released the complete day-by-day programme. Nová Cvernovka venue, located in Bratislava, will shine with the opening Thursday evening, where the most prominent names of the local scene will present their special sets. This year’s speciality is also the new festival app. SHARPE will welcome the first visitors on April 20!
The fifth edition of the SHARPE showcase festival & conference will take place next week in the unique premises of Bratislava’s Nová Cvernovka. Thursday’s opening night organized in cooperation with Rádio_FM will belong to the top names of the Slovak scene. It will be opened by the award-winning duo Lash & Grey in a special line-up with Robert Balzar on bass, Marcel Kóňa on drums and a string trio. Electronic producer FVLCRVM will follow with his AV SHOW. The evening will be closed by Blame Your Genes, the winner of the Radio_Head Awards 2022 in the category of Electronic Music, with his live-act and special guests.
“Complex program, strong guests and Pilsner beer in a glass. I believe that every visitor will find something for themself this year, and I also believe that he will leave with a sensational feeling. Come, don’t be shy and discover what we prepared for you, you won’t regret it!” says SHARPE director Michal Berezňák as he invites all music connoisseurs and fans to the festival.
Rich and diverse Friday program will present, among others, young Slovak talents such as Meowlau X Val, Small Town Life or Krstní otcovia. Laura Weng will be joined by a full band for the first time to present her fresh debut album. Among the foreign names, the avant-pop band Hope (DE) will perform on Friday, just about to join the Depeche Mode’s European tour as their opening act, right after the SHARPE festival. Friday will also host the occasional ninja rapping in English and Japanese Shao Dow (UK), singer Marí (DK), the Nordic duo Lake Jons (FI) or Stéphane Clor (FR) who in his work combines classical stringed instruments with electronic music and his own fine-art work.
Saturday’s line-up will be opened by the Austrian singer-songwriter Greyshadow and Slovak musician Karol Mikloš, but jazz fans will definitely enjoy themselves also at the concert of Magro (DE). Fans of electronic music shouldn’t miss the concert of the Ukrainian duo Krapka; KOMA, those fond of sophisticated guitar riffs will love the band Vojdi (SK), Izzy and The Black Trees (PL) or Cloudsurfers (NL). There will be no shortage of electronic genres either – in cooperation with Bratislava’s renowned party Nočná, the freshest names of the contemporary industrial techno scene will guide the visitors through the dark basements.
During both Friday and Saturday the SHARPE conference will take place in Nová Cvernovka. The conference this year includes workshops focused on the topics such as: how to start a music career, how to take care of mental health or networking activities and panels with experts from all over Europe. The workshop with Bastl Instruments, where participants will learn to assemble their own The Kastle 1.5 Synthesizer Kit is one of many unique opportunities offered by the festival.
The invitation to this year’s festival & conference was accepted by some dear and important guests such as long-time British music industry executive Stephen Budd (who is among other things a co-founder of Damon Albarn’s Africa Express) and Vlado Meller, originally from the city of Humenné, who after emigrating to the USA built a career as a mastering engineer and is behind the sound mastering of musical icons such as Céline Dion, Linkin Park, Red Hot Chili Peppers and others.
Representatives of many great festivals such as Primavera Sound and Mad Cool in Spain, Le Guess Who? in the Netherlands or Colours of Ostrava in Czech Republic have also confirmed their participation.
The festival & conference will feature more than 35 speakers and 60 musical performers in more than 65 concerts. There will also be a table football tournament in cooperation with the Pohoda festival and the visitor’s favorite secret acoustic concerts by bands whose identities will be revealed by the festival just before their playing time.
This year’s novelty is a festival application for phones with the iOS and Android operating systems. The SHARPE application fully replaces the festival bulletin and will provide the visitors with all the information about the performers, panels, timetable and will also be used to inform about current events at the festival.
