Born in Slovakia, Petra Firbasová began playing piano at the age of five while singing in a church choir. Though she comes from a non-artistic family, she carved out her own path into music. After high school, she moved to Amsterdam to study, but left university after a year to devote herself fully to songwriting and artistic exploration.
Raised on the music of Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Rey, Radiohead, Queen and Fiona Apple, she is drawn to artists who turn vulnerability and eccentricity into unmistakable expression. Petra builds her own intimate universe, exploring existentialism, surrealism, feminine “madness,” grief, love and self-perception — all tinted with subtle nihilism. Mystery and nostalgia linger in her voice and atmosphere.
Her inspirations stretch beyond music: psychological horror films such as Possession, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? and Stalker, the cinematic language of David Lynch, and the surrealist visions of Salvador Dalí and Egon Schiele.
The result is music that feels cinematic, unsettling and deeply personal — fragile yet fiercely self-possessed.
