One drummer and two saxophonists—that’s the simple formula behind one of the Nordics’ most explosive live bands. Copenhagen-based trio Smag På Dig Selv (SPDS) blend punk, jazz, hip-hop, afrobeat and ’90s dance into a high-energy, instrumental experience built for the dance floor.
Formed in 2018, SPDS set out to break genre boundaries and redefine what a live concert can feel like. Their shows are intense, physical and euphoric, earning them a reputation across the Danish underground for leaving audiences in sweat-soaked ecstasy.
In April 2024, they released their self-titled debut album SPDS to strong critical acclaim, marking their transition from underground sensation to one of Denmark’s most compelling live acts. The same year, they won “New Live Act of the Year” at the Danish Music Awards.
Known for their techno-driven energy, SPDS also incorporate Nordic throat singing and politically charged poetry into their performances. In 2024, they played to over 11,000 people at Roskilde Festival, and their Copenhagen show at Store Vega sold out five months in advance.
